Hi everyone!
Summer is coming to an end, it's time for back to school and the harvest. It's been a strange year for the garden. Tomatoes were late and mostly eaten by rabbits and other critters. I got some wonderful peppers and the local peaches were amazing. Now as the nights are getting cooler I'm thinking about classes and the fall fairs… and the Canfield Fair!
I will be joining AC and Kelly for the first day of the Canfield Fair on Thursday, September 3rd, from 7:30 until noonish. We will be on the radio part of that time and just hanging out at the Hot 101 tent the rest of the time. Come on out and see us!
This weekend also marks the first fair of the fall season. I will be at the Warren Psychic Fair Saturday and Sunday from 11-5 at the Comfort Inn on the downtown square. The next show after that will be the Universal Light Expo in Columbus, OH, October 10-11, were I will be offering psychic readings and a Lecture on Sunday – This I Choose, Ethics and Responsibilities of the Modern Mystic. The following weekend I will be in Rochester for their fall fair and then I will rest a bit before trekking off to Sandusky November 13-14 and then Cincinnati November 21-22. Busy Busy.
New classes and projects are also in the works. I was going to delay this newsletter until I had everything ready, but that never works. I'm working on adding a shopping area to the site where I will be selling Guided Meditation CDs and other projects as well as putting all the payment info for readings in one place. My first Meditation CD – Walking the Sacred Stair is almost ready and will be available for download in the next week or so. I am also looking to integrate online scheduling for readings and classes. No more phone tag! That's what you can look forward to seeing on JohnMichaelThornton.com and there are always new projects and ideas in the works.
I also have a new class forming in October and a new type of reading.
October 7th begins the final Psychic Development Class of the year. Your Spiritual Toolkit - Psychic Development Intensive – Learning to use your natural psychic gifts.
Class size is limited – 6 Student Min, 12 Student Max, all students must be pre-registered.
Continue Reading about the Fall Psychic Development Intensive!
Being/Doing Readings – 2-3 hours - $95 intro price for first 13 clients or till January 26th whichever comes first. Existing Clients and Students only.
Being/Doing Readings are a longer session designed just for you, centered around activity and conversation as well as a psychic reading. You and I will be painting, baking, gardening, walking in the woods with Dart, cooking or practicing yoga. We'll have a cup of tea and a chat. We will be practicing mindfulness and talking about your life and what has happened since your last reading. Readings may be my standard reading or we may focus on energy healing and balancing or ritual or some other type or psychic work that will manifest during our session.

Recently a 35,000-year-old flute was discovered in western Germany. The meticulously carved flute was found near fragments of other musical instruments and a female figurine proving music flourished even in the earliest days of human history.
You have no idea how happy this makes me. While I never doubted that people have always made music - lifting voices in song, clapping hands and stomping feet – to see that even from our earliest days we took the time out of our busy schedules of hunting, gathering, and running from saber-toothed tigers to make musical instruments, carve sculpture and paint the walls delights me and gives me reason for eternal optimism.
Music has always been a part of my - life from childhood songs to music lessons (violin, piano and voice) to the Boardman Orchestra to musical theater to dance classes. My Sermons and Podcasts often include songs and music accompanies me thought my day. Rarely a day goes my without song and I cannot imagine a world without music and birdsong and dance.
I feel rhythm and flow in my work and often hear bits of poetry in my readings and while I often resort to cheap laughs and stories in my teaching and lectures, I love a nicely turned phrase and strive for a rising crescendo when I lecture and teach. Even now I'm trying to figure out how to shoehorn a song into my lecture at ULE (I even have the perfect song to go with my topic – Ethics and Responsibilities of the Modern Mystic. You wouldn't think I could find a song for that topic, but you'd be wrong.).
Lately, I've been going out dancing more. Heather and I have been hitting a new club and a few old ones trying to find a dj who will work with us. No oldies, no radio edits and nothing too slow, thank you very much. I love a good mix of different styles, tempos and beats. My modern dance teacher wanted us to be able to dance to anything, so we moved to radio jingles from the 40s and 50s, aboriginal chants, Euro pop and everything in between. Dancing in silence with nothing but your heartbeat and the sounds of your body and breath providing the beat. Ballet and ballroom and folk and country line dancing – trying to find the limits of what you can do and what you can move to – all the while striving to hear the heartbeat of the Earth beneath you. Moving to the sounds of nature and feeling the Connection.
Last night was for live music at the Boom Room - Jann Klose and with Chris Marolf on upright bass (Chris also had a kora, this awesome, handmade African stringed instrument made just for him) with dancing after (and why is the dance floor always empty these days?). Jann was amazing, as ever. I love the diversity of age at his shows and how rapt the audience is. Usually, when you see a band in a bar half the audience is just there to drink and talk, leaving the band to fight to be heard over the noise, but the room is quiet when he plays. People listen, you can feel the sounds soaking in as if each person is pulling the music in rather than letting it flow over or be ignored as background.
I've seen Jann play a few times now, we always talk after the show and we're on each other's mailing lists, so there's this strange sense that we know each other even though we've probably spent little more than an hour talking, total, over the last few years. The magic of this medium is how close you can feel to someone you barely know and how even something as ephemeral as e-mail can foster the sense of Connection.
I'm teaching again and we've been talking in class about how to connect and what it feels like, how do you know when you've connected with a client? How can you be sure you are connected to your divine source? What does Connection feel like? So last week I made them dance (and this time it WORKED! Sorry first class, erk.) I dressed it up as a psychic development exercise, but it was a waltz. When two dance partners are Connected they move at the same time. While one may be leading and one following, they move as one organism. There is no pause or lag time between movements – it is a connection on the psychic level that translates beautifully into giving a psychic reading. It also teaches you to trust your self and your instincts with another person… and not worry about looking like a fool. You can't take yourself too seriously if you are going to be a psychic.
After the concert we went dancing. Moving to the music. Thinking of nothing but the other dancers and the next movement. Fitting yourself into the empty spaces on the dance floor. Flowing into the gaps and filling a space with motion. Responding to other movement or escaping to your own world you become a part of the universal dance. The flick of hair echoes the flutter of a leaf, the sinuous shake of a hip moves like rushing water wile an agile foot skips like a stone across the water. In every movement and every beat you can feel what our ancestors felt as they made music under a different sky, danced around a fire and felt a Connection. |

Your Spiritual Toolkit - Psychic Development Intensive – Learning to use your natural psychic gifts returns June 3rd. Meeting Wednesdays from 7-10 for six weeks, this workshop will teach you how to be a psychic and give psychic readings. This class will be recorded and the materials will be integrated into future classes. The most amazing information comes out in the process of teaching this material and I never remember what I said well enough to write it down later so we will be recording. The recordings will be available only to class members. Class will be only $200.00 for all six classes and all students get a psychic reading from me, John Thornton, before class begins. The readings help me focus the class to your needs and development.
The January class was an amazing experience and I am so ready to start teaching again. Class size is limited to 12 students, call me at 330-519-6558 and reserve your space right now! Class Has Started! If you are interested in taking "Your Spiritual Toolkit - Psychic Development Intensive" Sign up for my Newsletter or Contact me to book a class in your area. |

Happy Spring!
I've been wanting to get this newsletter out for a few weeks, but I keep getting distracted with playing outside and all the shiny things Spring is bringing.
First, new events on the calendar and a few changes. I will not be in Toledo this weekend, I will be in Akron instead, so come check us out at the John S. Knight Center! I also am thrilled to announce that I will be back at LilyDale this August teaching a new workshop on meeting your spirit guides entitled, "Hello! My name is _____" The stupid pictures we took of me wearing an oversized name tag will probably never see the light of day. I have also been invited to lecture at the Universal Light Expo in Columbus this fall, "This I Choose – Ethics and Responsibilities of the Modern Mystic." Ethics and morality became my main focus my last year at University and it feels great to be researching and writing about ethics and morality again.
Since my last e-mail I've added new pictures to the Gallery, updated the Sun Salutation video with better resolution (Thanx Eric!), and added a page for Podcasts & Audio in the Multimedia Section. You can find a highly moody Birthday Message in Audio. New articles and services are all over as well. I have new pages under Services for Dowsing and Psychic Parties. There are also three new articles under Questions and Answers: Mini-Bio, Recordings, and Why I Don't Give Free Readings.
In this Newsletter I've included an Ava Update and The Red Ranger. Have a great Spring and Go Play Outside!

Psychic Development Workshop - First Class |

It's taken me a few weeks to get my thoughts in order about my first Psychic Intensive Workshop "Your Spiritual Toolkit." For the longest time I just wanted to say, "OMG they were Awesome! Great class!" But I realize that is less than helpful or descriptive.
They were a fantastic first class and I feel incredibly blessed that I could work with this group of people. I am doubly blessed that my first psychic development class went so very well.
Planning a six-week class in northeastern Ohio in January is a gamble, but I've had great success with January classes and Spirit said unto me, "Why are you stalling?" So I ignored my inner Saboteur and scheduled the class. We only had to reschedule once for weather - which was great considering I had people driving nearly an hour each way.
I knew what I needed to cover the first three weeks, but I felt the need to keep the last three sessions loose and unscheduled so we could work with the needs and talents of the class. That's also why I insisted everyone receive a reading before the first class; I wanted to make sure we would cover what was needed.
The first night everyone gave a reading and everyone got a reading – no fooling around, right into the deep end for my students. Let me stress this again, Everyone gave a reading that first night. After that, it was all about theory, practice, and technique – everyone gave a reading that first night.
Over the six classes we talked to our spirit guides, looked at auras, felt chakras, saw the future, talked about the past, waltzed, laughed, and had innumerable lectures on ethics and technique. Every night I felt we could have talked long into the morning.
One thing I stressed over and over, there is no set path – so we worked with all sorts of techniques. No specialization in my class. We are energy beings in mortal shells and while we will all have specialties we can all be general practitioners. That is what I want to teach, how to be a GP of the psychic realm. If you need a specialist, you can call one in, but all of my students learn the basics of every type of psychic work I can think of and fit into six nights.
The realm of metaphysics and psychic development is huge. No one can know everything and there is infinite space for specialists, but there is always a need for the generalist. The reader who has enough knowledge and confidence to cover most issues and send clients to a specialist when needed.
I t old Spirit I wanted to teach a class on how to be a psychic and I was given that and so much more. I feel so incredibly proud of what I know these eight people are going to bring to the world, because I know each of them has learned the most important lesion of the class – they can do the work.
The first night, after every single one of them had given a reading, I had a few students giving the woe and sadness routine that they didn't feel 100% the first time out and I said: The western world, science, and mainstream America says what you just did is impossible. No one can see the future, or read minds, or see illness, or be psychic. You just did the impossible. You did the amazing and Never let anyone tell you otherwise. You did the impossible. Amazing.
I am so ready to teach the next class. I wanted to start another session the very next day, but it's taken me a few weeks to get my thoughts together. I am now looking for those interested in the next session and I'm trying to decide when we will have it. Wednesday nights were ok, but I know some people who couldn't do the weeknight. E-mail or call me if you are interested and when you will be available.
This next session will be recorded with the recordings available only to that classes students, but the transcripts will be incorporated into the next manual. As the class is still developing, second session will only be $200 for six weeks.
Do something impossible every day – be a psychic!
To register for the next session, and to register your preference for when it will be, e-mail or call me today. Next session will start in May!
Note: I seem to have forgotten to take a class picture or anything like that so we have nature pictures instead.
